SAMMY HORNER (with a Celtic flair)

Sammy Horner, from Scottland,  a one-man Celtic music phenomenon and one of the most entertaining, engaging, soulful and thought provoking artists touring today. His fluid  blend of Celtic heritage, cantankerous humor, fascinating storytelling and memorable songs makes for an unforgettable  evening.

Sammy brings a new CD 'Songs for the Sick and Tired" - gutsy Celtic acoustica with a tinge of Americana and occasional full on rock and blues. The album delivers what it says on the package - songs of encouragement for the sick and tired, arising from a difficult 2006 for the songsmith when he battled serious health issues.

Sammy Horner is a rare breed of artist. He is a storyteller, a  musician, a songwriter, and entertainer, and a bit of a philosopher.
He comes across as a genuinely humble guy who is with you to bring encouragement and hope in songs and hilarious stories full of
poignancy all packaged in this down-to-earth mischievous Irish minstrel.

Also:  THE JEFF NELSON TRIO

Acoustic - Folk  from the 1960s and beyond with an extra twist of Merle Travis style fingerpickin and Flatpicking fiddle tunes.   Enjoy a variety of music done with acoustic instruments.   Jeff on Guitar & vocals, Dan(his son) on guitar & wooden drum, and Bill Lawrence on bass & vocals.

7:30pm Show, doors open 6:30pm.

GRANDADS FAVORITES

Grandad's Favorites (the Krause Family Band) is celebrating the release of their CD “On This Bright Sunny Day”.

The Krause Family is comprised of sisters Ruthie and Katie, along with dad Rick. The band’s sound is lead by their fabulous, family harmonies, and accompanied by fiddle and guitar. The album features mostly original songs penned by Rick and one by Ruthie, and fine picking by various guest musicians (aka Grandad’s Favorites).  The boys, have been “adopted” as sons to make this a legitimate family affair. This group tries its hand at the old and new-timey, time honored bluegrass, gospel, and a pretty fair number, increasingly, of originals.

The band is:

  • Rick Krause - (guitar/vocals)
  • Katie Krause - (vocals)
  • Ruthie Krause - (fiddle/vocals)
  • Jim Nikora - (mandolin)
