DISCIPLE & Page2
Friday, 06/21/2013 | |
DISCIPLE Too many bands fall prey to the age-old conundrum where, if they sound great live, their albums fall short—and if they can craft a great studio recording, they lack the goods to pull it off live. That's what makes the new Disciple release, "O God, Save Us All," such an achievement: It's a tight, terrific collection of hard-hitting rock songs with a redemptive heart. But from the very start, lead vocalist Kevin Young and his comrades (Israel Beachy on bass, Micah Sannan on guitar and Trent Reiff on drums) sought to craft a disc that would leap off the live concert stage with all the impact of a perfectly timed stage dive. And if that means Disciple's going to get a little loud in the process, so much the better. "When you hear a song on this album it's definitely loud, even when you listen to it quietly," Young says. "But live, everything is tuned up a notch, and not just the volume: the energy, the intensity, everything. It's a feeling of being wrapped up in the music, of being lost in the music. We're going to be loud enough that you won’t be able to mistake it." Special Guests: PAGE2 A lot of musicians say they "live to rock," and typically the phrase is little more than a silly cliché. But in the case of Page 2 guitarist Clark Clermont, the adage couldn't be more sincere. Shortly after recording With No Map and No Direction, the quartet's first studio album in four years, Clark was diagnosed with TYPE cancer. The news stunned Clermont, threatening both his life and the concert tour he'd been waiting his whole life to embark upon. It suddenly became clear that the band's shared Christian faith was about to be tested. The track, "Guide Me Through" Urges listeners to hold on to hope and faith--even in situations where it's difficult to do so--the song has become a rallying cry for both Page 2 members and friends. Page 2--which has shared the stage with bands like Relient K, Everyday Sunday, Children 18:3 and Loftland--is best known for its famously high-energy live performances. *7:30pm show (doors @ 6:45pm unless you have an Early Bird) *Get in Early and be a part of the preshow MEET N' GREET with an EARLY BIRD PASS! THE NEVERCLAIM
Saturday, 08/10/2013 | |
|
Worship Leader Magazine, in their October Best of 2012 issue, named The Neverclaim's current album, Revival, as one of the top albums of the year! So, it makes perfect sense that The Neverclaim may be, perhaps, one of the most atypical worship bands presently impacting church culture. "We've developed an eclectic musical style that seems to separate us from any other worship circles we’d experienced," Carlson says. "It's at once youthful and folksy, new and familiar. With our goal being to stir revival in multiple generations, it's encouraging to see such a span of ages in the audience and how our songs are connecting to so many generations in the Church." Norman has announced that as of the end of 2013, he will officially retire from everything music. YOU can catch his last show in the area at the 2013 Cup O Joy Benefit Concert. Cultivating a substantial national following as a self-supported independent artist in the mid-90’s, Bebo became the poster child for Christian music’s acoustic singer-songwriter revival with his 1999 major label debut, which landed Norman on the cover of CCM—a rare honor for a new artist. CELLO FURY
Saturday, 10/26/2013 | |
|
CELLO FURY: Three classically trained cellists and a rock drummer from PA, performing high-energy original music in venues ranging from concert halls to rock clubs. Appealing to a wide audience across age groups and musical interests sets Cello Fury apart from your average rock band. from a review by: Sarah Wilson Simon Cummings, Ben Munoz and Nicole Myers are the three who make up the Cello section of the Fury with no small part played by their drummer Dave Throckmorton. Simply put? They are amazing. I've said it before but I never fail to be surprised at the wide variety of sound two varieties of instruments put together can create. And more? How very NOT cheesy it all is in the end! Seeing them live is an experience for sure. And not just for the flash-which there is with lots of hair tossing, cello spinning and I'm having more fun than anything on earth; faces pulled, but it's the music that will really blow you away. Fast and furious with the cellists standing, running bows across strings at blinding speed. Or sitting, plucking out an amazing intricate tunes with their fingers on four strings. All the while? Making you want to move! rock-06122013#sthash.2zOnwqVy.dpuf 7:30pm show (doors 6:30). *Consider getting an EARLY BIRD PASS for best seating!
